BIO: ABOUT JENNY
Jenny Gleeson has been running Lifeworx for seven years and has a passion for working with women to help them find their self-confidence again and assist them to return to the workforce, should they choose to. Throughout her career, she has worked for UWA, Central and Challenger Institutes of Technology in Career and Lecturing roles, and has also won a National Community Career Development Award through Miles Morgan Australia for work women and young people in outback communities.
Jenny has had a varied and diverse career but has a strong philosophy “if at first you don’t succeed try, try again (but in a different way)”. It is this diversity in her own career that has allowed Jenny to develop a unique skill-set that can really add value and tremendous support to people who are looking to make a career change or find a new path in life.
Jenny began her own business seven year ago called Lifeworx which won the 2015 National Edupreneur Award for Career and Life Coaching. Since moving back to Perth, she has been contracted through the University of Western Australia to assist with staff morale and career development needs, and recently ran workshops for Disability Service Organisations to help them to understand the new National Standards and WA Quality System to be able to pass quality evaluations. She also has worked with numerous not for profits, small to medium enterprise and local governments to ensure their staff are engaged and motivated.
Her career began in the Hospitality sector after completing Year 12 and having absolutely no idea what she wanted to do with her future.
Jenny then joined The Salvation Army Employment Plus as a Job Search Trainer and caseload worker working with long term unemployed people. She completed a Graduate Certificate in Career Development and is now a qualified Career Adviser.
Jenny has also worked in Kalgoorlie and surrounding remote and rural Aboriginal communities assisting them with community career development. These roles saw her working specifically with the women in the communities and young people. She has worked for Central and Challenger Institutes of Technology in Career and Lecturing roles, and thoroughly enjoyed working in the NOW Program (Now Opportunities for Women) which is a program specifically for women to help them find their self-confidence again and assist them to return to the workforce, should they choose to.
Jenny has lived with a mental illness since her early teens. She has put herself through university, travelled extensively and is a single, self-employed woman. The road has not been an easy one but she is determined to reach her full potential in everything she does and aspires to assist others reach theirs too. Her mottos include: “a life with passion is a life worth living” and “be all you can be, for yourself and others.”
